Borges International Group staff donate 13 litres of blood during Borges Red Day

26 workers from Borges International Group have attended a mobile unit from the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia to donate blood as part of the annual Dóna’n una mica! campaign.

This marks the twelfth time that Borges International Group has organised a blood donation, and the sixth to be conducted at the Tàrrega premises..

For another year running, the staff of Borges International Group have collaborated altruistically in the blood donation solidarity campaign Dóna’n a mica! (Catalan: Give us something!). In total, 26 employees from the Tàrrega branch visited the mobile unit from the Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia which was parked throughout the day in the grounds of the Aceites Borges Pont company, next to the offices. This year, 13 litres of blood were collected.

The “Borges Red Day” is an action geared towards social responsibility that was proposed by our own staff via the suggestions box. The mailbox was made available to the staff within the framework of the company’s internal communication policies. The Red Day has been held since 2009 at the headquarters of Borges International Group in Reus (Tarragona), and for six years in Tàrrega (Lleida). This solidarity day has been a success in terms of participation since its inception. Thanks to the commitment demonstrated by the workers of Borges International Group, it was celebrated for the twelfth time in 2015 and has already established itself as a quintessential and unmissable annual event.

In Catalonia, 1,000 donations are needed per day.

The Blood and Tissue Bank of Catalonia needs 1,000 donations every day, one for every three seconds. For this reason the Borges Group has been keen to contribute, with the aim of guaranteeing supplies to the hospitals and clinics of Catalonia. In parallel to this, Borges International Group continues to collaborate actively with the Blood and Tissue Bank by licensing Borges products that the entity offers to donors after blood extraction during the various campaigns that take place throughout the year in our cities.
