Borges and IRTA cooperate on technological research and development in agri-food projects

Borges CEO, Josep Pont Amenós, and IRTA General Manager, Josep Usall, signed an agreement on 8 April to identify, develop and implement specific actions in different areas of shared interest. These include presenting joint proposals for research projects, services and technology developments, knowledge transfer and training.

This umbrella agreement creates a framework for strong, strategic collaboration by Borges and IRTA, which have already been working together for some time on ad hoc projects, such as, for example, post-harvest studies on olives. In fact, according to IRTA General Manager, Josep Usall, they are currently working on a nationwide operational group for detecting bitter almonds.

Borges CEO pointed out that with more than 120 years of family tradition, the Borges Group specialises in products that make up the Mediterranean diet, such as nuts, olive oil, etc. It has been working closely with IRTA for many years and has decided to cement the relationship with agricultural and industrial R&D+i to develop new, high-quality, healthy, flavoursome products for Mediterranean cooking and lifestyle.
