Borges renews the Environmental Declaration of its Extra Virgin Olive Oil

The carbon footprint has been reduced by 35% since the last calculation mainly dueto  the use of electricity from renewable sources and the use of recycled material in packaging.  

Borges renews the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), from Olive Oilto Extra Virgin packaged in glass bottles, a calculation that goes beyond the carbon footprint and is based on the analysis of the life cycle of the product. It is a certified and registered environmental declaration prepared  in accordance with the international standard ISO 14025, used to establish requirements for type III ecolabels, those that present information on the life cycle of products.

Since the last certification,  Borges has reduced the  carbon footprint of the product by 35%  thanks to  the use of renewable  electrical energy in the packaging phase, as  well as  the  use of 80% recycled material in  the packaging.  The company’s commitment is to continue implementing improvements to reduce the carbon footprint of its products.

The life cycle methodology and EPD helps to understand, improve and communicate the environmental impact of the  product, and it    has taken into account all the stages  of the Aceite of Oliva Virgen E xtra, from the initial field phase, through the production phase, to its distribution,  Use and End of Life.
